Historic Ellicott City

Ellicott City, MD

Ellicott City family photographer

Historic Ellicott City has a storybook quality that families love: granite buildings, brick steps, painted shopfronts and old stone walls with a river running beside it.

It's a wonderful setting if you want photos with a little more character and texture, and it pairs beautifully with a stop for ice cream or coffee afterward to make an outing of it.

Spots I love in and around Ellicott City

  • Historic Main Street and its side alleys and stone staircases.
  • The B&O Railroad Museum: Ellicott City Station area, with its historic stone station building.
  • Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park, romantic stone ruins on the hill above town.
  • Centennial Park for open lawns, a lake path and easy parking.

Good to know

Main Street is busiest on weekend afternoons, so I usually suggest an early morning or a weekday evening session for a calmer feel. Parking is available in public lots around town; I'll send the closest one to our meeting spot.
